Fourth of July stuff

Sunday night we walked to the park about a quarter mile from our apartment to watch the Cody Fireworks. Lynn and Judy and Tallon and Kristen came too. It made for another late night, but the kids sure liked it. The next day we drove to Billings to shop for furniture. Obviously, the kids had a great time (or not). They were good for about 45 minutes before we had a mutiny on our hands. Oh well...it gave us something to do =).

Groathouse had a BBQ on Friday July 2. They set up water kickball, where each of the bases is a kiddie pool and home plate is the end of a slip-n-slide. Kelsie was so tired afterwards that I changed her out of her swimsuit/diaper and into a regular diaper and regular clothes---all while she was sound asleep. We came home, packed up Schane's truck with our gear, and headed up to the Big Horns for his family reunion. Usually we go up through Greybull and Shell...this time we went up through Lovell. It was so pretty!!! I really liked seeing so much of the big horn basin just spread out below us. I think the kids would have been fine camping for another day or two, but I like my bed =).

The kids and I went to the Fourth of July Kids Parade on friday morning. It was OK. Don't know that I'll go out of my way to go in the future, though.

Groathouse (Schane's employer) had some extra tickets to the rodeo (the big one on the fourth of July weekend). We took Tyler and Kelsie on Thursday night. The rodeo starts at 8 pm and ends at about 11 pm, but the kids really had a fun time.

Boat tour on Big Horn Resevoir

Schane heard that they were giving free boat tours for the Big Horn Lake Celebration (or something like that). So we decided to check it out - just an hour away. Big Horn Lake is in "the grand canyon of the Big Horns". Like Lake Powell, but not as big or as pretty. Tyler and Kelsie LOVED it. Half way through the tour, Kelsie decided she wanted to be independent, and she was mad that mom wouldn't let her wander around the boat. We ran out of oil on our way back and had to flag down another boat to tow us back to the dock, so our tour was more like 30 minutes instead of 15-20. It was a blast!!!
